Chico Allen
Third Baseman | Retired or Inactive Players

Hitting
The book on Allen is that you can knock the bat out of his hands with an average major league fastball. He has a natural lift to his swing, which produces few groundballs. He hits righthanders and lefthanders with equal consistency. You can expect Chico Allen to hit the ball to the opposite field... that's just the kind of hitter he is. It's hard to explain but Chico Allen plays much better on the road then he does at home. It's unfortunate too, with Allen signing a hefty contract. You gotta imagine management wants a little better relationship between him and the fans.

Baserunning & Defense
His speed is below average and he's not a threat to steal. Minor league scouts have accused Allen of being a liability in the field. His biggest problem in the field simply has to be his throwing arm... it's well below par.

2010 Outlook
What The Retired or Inactive Players was thinking when they signed Allen to a long contract, is beyond me: this guy flat-out sucks.
