Eddie Arroyo
Relief Pitcher | Oakland Athletics

Pitching
He keeps his pitches low in the strike zone and throws a heavy ball. He's a good late inning man, which is when being a pitcher really counts. He struggles with his command at times and is still learning to mix his pitches and set up hitters. Dating back to his days in the minors, Arroyo has been more effective against righthanders than lefthanders.

Defense & Hitting
Arroyo is nothing special in the field. Arroyo doesn't make much of an attempt to combat the running game. Basestealers ran at will last year. Arroyo is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Arroyo has some pop in his swing.

2010 Outlook
I can't say I know what The Oakland Athletics were doing locking this guy up to a long term contract. A questionable call at best. AA isn't the right place for Arroyo. Expect the Oakland Athletics to send him down for some minor retooling. I just don't know if The Oakland Athletics are ever going to get what they expect out of him.
