Bernie Barnes
Right Fielder | Free Agents

Hitting
The book on Barnes is that you can knock the bat out of his hands with an average major league fastball. Barnes always has been a line-drive hitter who uses the entire field. The Free Agents do tend to sit Barnes when the opposing team throws a lefty. It's no secret he can't touch the left-handed breaking ball. It's hard to explain but Bernie Barnes plays much better on the road then he does at home. It's unfortunate too, with Barnes signing a hefty contract. You gotta imagine management wants a little better relationship between him and the fans.

Baserunning & Defense
His speed is below average and he's not a threat to steal. Minor league scouts have accused Barnes of being a liability in the field. Bernie's arm leaves a little to be a desired.

2010 Outlook
What The Free Agents was thinking when they signed Barnes to a long contract, is beyond me: this guy flat-out sucks.
