Pitching
His fastball gets into the high 80s, but it's the sink that makes the pitch effective. The Atlanta Braves hope he can work on his control a little bit. Every once and a while one slips away from him and either ends up at the backstop or in the right field bleachers. But Bean, do us a favor. Stop throwing that changeup. It looks like a beachball. He's almost as effective against lefthanders as he is versus righthanders.

Defense & Hitting
His pickoff move is only fair. Bean is nothing special in the field. Bean is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Bean has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Atlanta Braves have been known to use Bean as a pinch-runner on occasion.

2010 Outlook
The Atlanta Braves signed him to a long-term contract, but don't think they won't drop Bean like a hot potato if something better comes along.
