Tim Belcher
Starting Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players

Pitching
He's a good late inning man, which is when being a pitcher really counts. The Retired or Inactive Players hope he can work on his control a little bit. Every once and a while one slips away from him and either ends up at the backstop or in the right field bleachers. He tends to work slowly when in a jam, which just makes his problems worse by lulling his fielders to sleep. He can hit 90 MPH but is too smart to try to get his fastball past most hitters. He's almost as effective against righthanders as he is versus lefthanders.

Defense & Hitting
He's average in terms of controlling the running game. He isn't especially quick off the mound but generally fields his position adequately. Belcher is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Belcher has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Belcher as a pinch-runner on occasion.

2010 Outlook
Belcher flat-out isn't ready for this level of competition. Expect the Retired or Inactive Players to send him down promptly. But if you ask me, I'll pass on Belcher.
