Angel Berroa
Shortstop | Montreal Expos

Hitting
With his ability to hit for average and his sound batting eye, he makes a good No. 2 hitter. Berroa always has been a line-drive hitter who uses the entire field. He hits righthanders and lefthanders with equal consistency. He likes to pull the ball, but don't be surprised if he puts the ball the opposite field from time to time. He's a smart batter and takes good note of how the fielders are shading him. It's hard to explain but Angel Berroa plays much better on the road then he does at home. It's unfortunate too, with Berroa signing a hefty contract. You gotta imagine management wants a little better relationship between him and the fans.

Baserunning & Defense
When his legs are healthy, Berroa is an excellent basestealer with good speed and first-step quickness. Berroa isn't a fluid shortstop, but he's not afraid to get dirty and gets the job done. Berroa has one of the strongest arms among shortstops.

2010 Outlook
The Montreal Expos were smart, they locked Berroa up to a long term contract. Berroa has impressed at the A-ball level. Look for the Montreal Expos to give him a shot in Double or Triple A before the year is up.
