Hitting
He has the mental discipline to handle clutch situations. The book on Black is that you can knock the bat out of his hands with an average major league fastball. Any manager would love to have this guy on his bench. He's a perfect for pinch hitting against a lefty reliever. You can expect Paul Black to hit the ball to the opposite field... that's just the kind of hitter he is.

Baserunning & Defense
His defense is solid but unspectacular. His arm is accurate enough. Black doesn't have great speed, though he reads righthanders' moves well enough to steal a handful of bases each season without getting caught very often.

2010 Outlook
What The Free Agents was thinking when they signed Black to a long contract, is beyond me: this guy flat-out sucks.
