Leopold Bloom
Relief Pitcher | Chicago Cubs

Pitching
He's a finesse pitcher, relying on movement and location. He can get groundballs when he needs them in a jam. His fastball gets into the high 80s, but it's the sink that makes the pitch effective. He's almost as effective against righthanders as he is versus lefthanders.

Defense & Hitting
He has a fair pickoff move and isn't a particularly easy target for basestealers. Bloom is nothing special in the field. Bloom is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Bloom has some pop in his swing.

2010 Outlook
The Chicago Cubs were smart, they locked Bloom up to a long term contract. Bloom has impressed at the A-ball level. Look for the Chicago Cubs to give him a shot in Double or Triple A before the year is up. I really like what this guy brings to the table.
