In past seasons, Brouthers has been a bit of a liability with men on base. Brouthers always has been a line-drive hitter who uses the entire field. He hits righthanders and lefthanders with equal consistency.

Baserunning & Defense
His defense is solid but unspectacular. His arm is accurate, and he knows when to unload or take his time. Brouthers is an intelligent baserunner with average speed, but he's not a basestealing threat.
