Timothy Byrdak
Starting Pitcher | Free Agents
Pitching Byrdak can get into trouble with walks, and there's concern about him being able to maintain his stuff over the whole season. His stuff becomes less sharp as he gets into the late innings. Sometimes I wish he'd just give up on throwing the changeup, it's like a BP ball! You know, some times I think I can throw harder than Byrdak, and that's saying a lot. He frequently leaves fastballs up in the strike zone, where they get pounded. He traditionally fares better against lefties.
Defense & Hitting Byrdak has a very good move to first base, and he varies it so that he's extremely difficult to read. Byrdak is nothing special in the field. Byrdak is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Byrdak has some pop in his swing.
2010 Outlook I can't say I know what The Free Agents were doing locking this guy up to a long term contract. A questionable call at best. I just don't know if The Free Agents are ever going to get what they expect out of him.
