George Cahill
Relief Pitcher | Free Agents
Pitching The Free Agents hope he can work on his control a little bit. Every once and a while one slips away from him and either ends up at the backstop or in the right field bleachers. You know, some times I think I can throw harder than Cahill, and that's saying a lot. He's trying to develop a sinker, but as of yet it's been well below par. He attacks lefties and righties with similar success. It's hard to explain but George Cahill plays much better on the road then he does at home. It's unfortunate too, with Cahill signing a hefty contract. You gotta imagine management wants a little better relationship between him and the fans.
Defense & Hitting He tends to fall off slightly to the first-base side of the mound, making him vulnerable to bunts toward third base. He makes up for that minor flaw by being aggressive in fielding his position. He doesn't hold runners very close, which gives his catcher a bit of a workout. Cahill is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Cahill has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Free Agents have been known to use Cahill as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2010 Outlook What The Free Agents was thinking when they signed Cahill to a long contract, is beyond me: this guy flat-out sucks. But if you ask me, I'll pass on Cahill.
