Hitting
One of the nice things about Bumpus is that he's a real clutch hitter. This guy can't hit a watermelon with a lampost. Calderone always has been a line-drive hitter who uses the entire field. He hits righthanders and lefthanders with equal consistency.
Baserunning & Defense
Calderone doesn't have great speed, though he reads righthanders' moves well enough to steal a handful of bases each season without getting caught very often. Minor league scouts have accused Calderone of being a liability in the field. His arm is accurate enough.
2010 Outlook
What The Los Angeles Dodgers was thinking when they signed Calderone to a long contract, is beyond me: this guy flat-out sucks. Calderone isn't cutting the mustard in the low minors. It's time for Bumpus to investigate other career options, like coaching highschool ball.
