Ed Emmerich
Third Baseman | Retired or Inactive Players

Hitting
He has the mental discipline to handle clutch situations. The book on Emmerich is that you can knock the bat out of his hands with an average major league fastball. Even though you might not start him, he's not a bad guy to have on your bench for the tough left-handed reliever. You can expect Ed Emmerich to hit the ball to the opposite field... that's just the kind of hitter he is.

Baserunning & Defense
His glovework leaves a lot to be desired. His biggest problem in the field simply has to be his throwing arm... it's well below par. Emmerich isn't a good baserunner. He doesn't get good jumps on steals nor runs sharp routes around the bases.

2010 Outlook
What The Retired or Inactive Players was thinking when they signed Emmerich to a long contract, is beyond me: this guy flat-out sucks.
