Jesse Foppert
Starting Pitcher | Idaho Sporks

Pitching
He's a pretty good ground-ball pitcher, which I like because ground balls stay in the park. His fastball gets into the high 80s, but it's the sink that makes the pitch effective. The Idaho Sporks hope he can work on his control a little bit. Every once and a while one slips away from him and either ends up at the backstop or in the right field bleachers. He attacks lefties and righties the same way.

Defense & Hitting
Foppert remains one of the best fielding pitchers in the game's history. He's reasonably quick to the plate but needs to vary his pickoff moves. Good baserunners appeared to time him last year. Foppert is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Foppert has some pop in his swing.

2010 Outlook
The Idaho Sporks signed him to a long-term contract, but don't think they won't drop Foppert like a hot potato if something better comes along.
