Chris George
Starting Pitcher | Montreal Expos
Pitching George is a control pitcher; when he's on he has pinpoint control. He's got a really stong arm, so he can blow it by you on occasion. He's a pretty good ground-ball pitcher, which I like because ground balls stay in the park. He's a good late inning man, which is when being a pitcher really counts. George's fastball was clocked at 95 MPH most of the season and he kept excellent control of it. George also has a decent changeup. George also throws a screwball. He changes speeds well enough to keep righthanders from teeing off on him.
Defense & Hitting George has an impressive presence on the mound, always taking an aggressive posture. His pickoff move is only fair. George is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but George has some pop in his swing.
2010 Outlook The Montreal Expos were smart, they locked George up to a long term contract. There's no question in anyone's mind he's a franchise player. This kid has earned his ticket to AAA. The Montreal Expos will call Chris George up as soon they have a roster spot and a tailored uniform. George has arguably the best stuff in baseball.
