Chick Grant
Starting Pitcher | Free Agents
Pitching If you're going in to face Grant, better be wearing plenty of protection. He's wild. When you throw a curveball, it better break. Hanging curves equal earned runs in this league, you just can't get away with them. Unfortunately, Grant's curveball tends to hang. He comes right after righthanded hitters, who are lucky even to reach base against him, but he works more carefully to lefties.
Defense & Hitting He gobbles up comebackers, sometimes roaming far from the mound to get a glove on a ball. His move to first isn't very good, but his delivery is fairly quick and he isn't overly vulnerable to the stolen base. Grant is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Grant has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Free Agents have been known to use Grant as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2010 Outlook What The Free Agents was thinking when they signed Grant to a long contract, is beyond me: this guy flat-out sucks. But if you ask me, I'll pass on Grant.
