Byung-Hyun Kim
Relief Pitcher | Florida Marlins

Pitching
He's got a really stong arm, so he can blow it by you on occasion. When his release point drops below three-quarters, his fastball tends to hang in the strike zone. Kim also has a decent changeup. He tends to work slowly when in a jam, which just makes his problems worse by lulling his fielders to sleep. He's almost as effective against righthanders as he is versus lefthanders.

Defense & Hitting
Kim uses a slide step to keep runners close. Kim is a maximum-effort pitcher who's slow off the mound. He could help himself by flagging down a few more grounders. Kim is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Kim has some pop in his swing.

2010 Outlook
The Florida Marlins were smart, they locked Kim up to a long term contract. Kim has impressed at the A-ball level. Look for the Florida Marlins to give him a shot in Double or Triple A before the year is up. I really like what this guy brings to the table.
