Ryan Minor
Third Baseman | Chicago Cubs

Hitting
Minor provides an ongoing clinic on how to hit .300. He works the count in his favor, waiting for his pitch or settling for a walk. He's still a singles hitter at heart, and knows how to shorten up and protect the plate with two strikes. He has the mental discipline to handle clutch situations. During the last two years, he has become more patient and gotten better loft on the ball. He hits righthanders and lefthanders with equal consistency. His strength is in the gaps.

Baserunning & Defense
Minor plays a near-flawless third baseman, making very few errors. His arm is accurate enough. Minor isn't fast, but he's a heady baserunner who rarely gets thrown out.

2010 Outlook
Minor is in charge when he's at the plate.
