John Moore
Relief Pitcher | Baltimore Orioles

Pitching
He can get groundballs when he needs them in a jam. His slider is sharp and breaks both horizontally and vertically. His curveball is solid; he throws it better than your average reliever. The Baltimore Orioles hope he can work on his control a little bit. Every once and a while one slips away from him and either ends up at the backstop or in the right field bleachers. He traditionally fares better against lefties.

Defense & Hitting
Though he lacks a good pickoff move, he checks the running game with a compact stretch delivery. Moore is nothing special in the field. Moore is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Moore has some pop in his swing.

2010 Outlook
I can't say I know what The Baltimore Orioles were doing locking this guy up to a long term contract. A questionable call at best. Moore has below average skills, even for the low minors. One has to expect the Baltimore Orioles will give him his walking papers before the end of the season. I just don't know if The Baltimore Orioles are ever going to get what they expect out of him.
