Matt Morris
Starting Pitcher | Kansas City Lords
Pitching Morris's bread and butter pitch is his slider. I've seen it baffle many a lefty. He's a finesse pitcher, relying on movement and location. He's got a really stong arm, so he can blow it by you on occasion. Morris's fastball was clocked at 95 MPH most of the season and he kept excellent control of it. His stuff becomes less sharp as he gets into the late innings. But Morris, do us a favor. Stop throwing that changeup. It looks like a beachball. He attacks lefties and righties the same way.
Defense & Hitting He fielded his position creditably. Morris does an average job of holding runners. Morris is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Morris has some pop in his swing.
2010 Outlook I don't say this often, but I'll say it for Morris: he's one of the highest rated pitchers on my scouting sheet.
