Jose Payne

Hitting
In past seasons, Payne has been a bit of a liability with men on base. The book on Payne is that you can knock the bat out of his hands with an average major league fastball. Payne always has been a line-drive hitter who uses the entire field. He hits righthanders and lefthanders with equal consistency. It's hard to explain but Jose Payne plays much better on the road then he does at home. It's unfortunate too, with Payne signing a hefty contract. You gotta imagine management wants a little better relationship between him and the fans.

Baserunning & Defense
His glovework leaves a lot to be desired. His arm is accurate enough. Payne's absolutely no threat to steal and doubles must be obvious for him to chance advancing.

2010 Outlook
What The Free Agents was thinking when they signed Payne to a long contract, is beyond me: this guy flat-out sucks.
