Carlos Pena
First Baseman | Philadelphia Phillies

Hitting
During the last two years, he has become more patient and gotten better loft on the ball. He hangs in well against lefthanders' breaking balls, and some of the pitchers he hits best are the southpaw specialists often brought in to face him. His strength is in the gaps.

Baserunning & Defense
His arm and range are average, and he has a tendency to get lazy with his feet. Pena has below-average speed and is a poor baserunner.

2010 Outlook
The Philadelphia Phillies signed him to a long-term contract, but don't think they won't drop Pena like a hot potato if something better comes along.
