Mark Petkovsek
Starting Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching He struggles with his command at times and is still learning to mix his pitches and set up hitters. Petkovsek also has a decent changeup. You know, some times I think I can throw harder than Petkovsek, and that's saying a lot. The one thing I must say I don't like about Petkovsek is how easily rattled he gets. If he makes a mistake to a hitter and the guy winds up on second or third, you can pretty much count on the guy scoring. He frequently leaves fastballs up in the strike zone, where they get pounded. He's almost as effective against lefthanders as he is versus righthanders.
Defense & Hitting His move to first isn't very good, but his delivery is fairly quick and he isn't overly vulnerable to the stolen base. Petkovsek is nothing special in the field. Petkovsek is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Petkovsek has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Petkovsek as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2010 Outlook If Petkovsek doesn't perform, the Retired or Inactive Players won't hesitate to send him down to the minors. I just don't know if The Retired or Inactive Players are ever going to get what they expect out of him.
