Hitting
Plantier never has been a patient hitter. He has a natural lift to his swing, which produces few groundballs. He hangs in well against lefthanders' breaking balls, and some of the pitchers he hits best are the southpaw specialists often brought in to face him.

Baserunning & Defense
When you play Plantier you're not putting him in for his glove. His biggest problem in the field simply has to be his throwing arm... it's well below par. Plantier isn't a good baserunner. He doesn't get good jumps on steals nor runs sharp routes around the bases.
