He has the mental discipline to handle clutch situations. This guy can't hit a watermelon with a lampost. Even though you might not start him, he's not a bad guy to have on your bench for the tough left-handed reliever. You can expect Lum Shambaugh to hit the ball to the opposite field... that's just the kind of hitter he is.

Baserunning & Defense
He has below-average speed and is stiff on the basepath. He's poor on a straight steal but has some success at reading pitchers and working a delayed steal. Shambaugh doesn't read balls well off the bat, misses cutoff men consistently and floats throws to the infield. Runners take advantage of his weak arm.

2010 Outlook
What The Free Agents was thinking when they signed Shambaugh to a long contract, is beyond me: this guy flat-out sucks.
