Ed Shears
Third Baseman | Retired or Inactive Players

Hitting
The book on Shears is that you can knock the bat out of his hands with an average major league fastball. Shears always has been a line-drive hitter who uses the entire field. He hits righthanders and lefthanders with equal consistency.

Baserunning & Defense
His speed is below average and he's not a threat to steal. Minor league scouts have accused Shears of being a liability in the field. Ed's arm leaves a little to be a desired.

2010 Outlook
What The Retired or Inactive Players was thinking when they signed Shears to a long contract, is beyond me: this guy flat-out sucks.
