Bud Solters
Left Fielder | Chicago Cubs

Hitting
In past seasons, Solters has been a bit of a liability with men on base. The book on Solters is that you can knock the bat out of his hands with an average major league fastball. He has a natural lift to his swing, which produces few groundballs. He hits righthanders and lefthanders with equal consistency.

Baserunning & Defense
Solters is an intelligent baserunner with average speed, but he's not a basestealing threat. When you play Solters you're not putting him in for his glove. Runners take advantage of his weak arm.

2010 Outlook
What The Chicago Cubs was thinking when they signed Solters to a long contract, is beyond me: this guy flat-out sucks. Solters isn't cutting the mustard in the low minors. It's time for Bud to investigate other career options, like coaching highschool ball.
