Statler Vinnie
Left Fielder | New York Yankees

Hitting
Vinnie chases breaking balls down and away and can be induced to go for fastballs up and out of the strike zone. He sometimes will press in clutch situations and chase fastballs up and out of the zone. Vinnie was a line-drive hitter when he first came up, but over the last few years has become more of a true home-run hitter, lofting more high flyballs. He hits righthanders and lefthanders with equal consistency. His strength is in the gaps.

Baserunning & Defense
When you play Vinnie you're not putting him in for his glove. Runners take advantage of his weak arm. His speed is below average and he's not a threat to steal.

2010 Outlook
The New York Yankees signed him to a long-term contract, but don't think they won't drop Vinnie like a hot potato if something better comes along.
