Buddy Vukovich
Catcher | Retired or Inactive Players

Hitting
The book on Vukovich is that you can knock the bat out of his hands with an average major league fastball. Vukovich always has been a line-drive hitter who uses the entire field. The Retired or Inactive Players do tend to sit Vukovich when the opposing team throws a lefty. It's no secret he can't touch the left-handed breaking ball. It's hard to explain but Buddy Vukovich plays much better on the road then he does at home. It's unfortunate too, with Vukovich signing a hefty contract. You gotta imagine management wants a little better relationship between him and the fans.

Baserunning & Defense
Vukovich is a poor defensive catcher. He isn't very mobile or adept at blocking balls in the dirt. His biggest problem in the field simply has to be his throwing arm... it's well below par. He has no speed at all and runs the bases conservatively.

2010 Outlook
What The Retired or Inactive Players was thinking when they signed Vukovich to a long contract, is beyond me: this guy flat-out sucks.
