Rick Ankiel
Starting Pitcher | Chicago White Sox

Pitching
Ankiel can get into trouble with walks, and there's concern about him being able to maintain his stuff over the whole season. His curveball is inconsistent, but when it's sharp it's a solid complement to his fastball. His stuff becomes less sharp as he gets into the late innings. He's almost as effective against righthanders as he is versus lefthanders.

Defense & Hitting
His pickoff move is merely average. Ankiel is agile on the mound, though he makes needless errors when his concentration wanders. Ankiel is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Ankiel has some pop in his swing.

2010 Outlook
Ankiel performance in AAA is making it difficult for the Chicago White Sox to ignore him much longer. Expect his name to be on the September call-up list. I really like what this kid brings to the table.
