Harold Baines
Right Fielder | Retired or Inactive Players

Hitting
Baines never has been a patient hitter. Baines always has been a line-drive hitter who uses the entire field. He hangs in well against lefthanders' breaking balls, and some of the pitchers he hits best are the southpaw specialists often brought in to face him.

Baserunning & Defense
He has below-average speed and is stiff on the basepath. He's poor on a straight steal but has some success at reading pitchers and working a delayed steal. Baines doesn't read balls well off the bat, misses cutoff men consistently and floats throws to the infield. Runners take advantage of his weak arm.

2010 Outlook
If Baines doesn't perform, the Retired or Inactive Players won't hesitate to send him down to the minors.
