Richard Baldwin
Relief Pitcher | Free Agents
Pitching When his release point drops below three-quarters, his fastball tends to hang in the strike zone. He tends to work slowly when in a jam, which just makes his problems worse by lulling his fielders to sleep. If you're going in to face Baldwin, better be wearing plenty of protection. He's wild. You know, some times I think I can throw harder than Baldwin, and that's saying a lot. He's almost as effective against righthanders as he is versus lefthanders.
Defense & Hitting His slow delivery makes him fairly easy to steal upon, but Baldwin helps himself by holding runners with throws to first, and with slide steps and varied deliveries to home. Baldwin is nothing special in the field. Baldwin is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Baldwin has some pop in his swing.
2010 Outlook What The Free Agents was thinking when they signed Baldwin to a long contract, is beyond me: this guy flat-out sucks. But if you ask me, I'll pass on Baldwin.
