Adrian Beltre
Third Baseman | Detroit Tigers

Hitting
Beltre provides an ongoing clinic on how to hit .300. He works the count in his favor, waiting for his pitch or settling for a walk. One thing's for sure, late in the game you're glad you have him on the field. He's still a singles hitter at heart, and knows how to shorten up and protect the plate with two strikes. He has the mental discipline to handle clutch situations. During the last two years, he has become more patient and gotten better loft on the ball. He hits righthanders and lefthanders with equal consistency. A spray hitter in the classic sense, Adrian puts the ball all over the park.

Baserunning & Defense
You might not expect it, but Beltre is a pretty good fielder too. He's also one of the better throwing third basemen in the league. Beltre has better-than-average speed, and he has made himself into a solid basestealer by developing a quick first step and studying the moves of pitchers.

2010 Outlook
Beltre is in charge when he's at the plate.
