Hitting
Benard never has been a patient hitter. Benard always has been a line-drive hitter who uses the entire field. He hangs in well against lefthanders' breaking balls, and some of the pitchers he hits best are the southpaw specialists often brought in to face him.

Baserunning & Defense
His arm and range are average, and he has a tendency to get lazy with his feet. No longer much of a threat to steal, he's smart enough to make pitchers pay if they ignore him.
