Miguel Cairo
Second Baseman | St. Louis Cardinals
Hitting Cairo never has been a patient hitter. With his slap-hitting approach, Cairo always hits like he already has two strikes. The results are usually groundballs or line drives to the opposite field. He hits righthanders and lefthanders with equal consistency. You can expect Miguel Cairo to hit the ball to the opposite field... that's just the kind of hitter he is.
Baserunning & Defense He doesn't get good jumps on grounders, but his routes are fine and his hands aren't bad. His arm is accurate enough. Cairo is an intelligent baserunner with average speed, but he's not a basestealing threat.
2010 Outlook If Cairo doesn't perform, the St. Louis Cardinals won't hesitate to send him down to the minors.
