John Calderon
First Baseman | Retired or Inactive Players

Hitting
One thing's for sure, late in the game you're glad you have him on the field. He has the mental discipline to handle clutch situations. The book on Calderon is that you can knock the bat out of his hands with an average major league fastball. He has a natural lift to his swing, which produces few groundballs. He hits righthanders and lefthanders with equal consistency. John Calderon has made a career of putting the ball to the opposite field. That's rare in this day and age.

Baserunning & Defense
His glovework leaves a lot to be desired. His arm is accurate enough. Calderon often has trouble scoring from second base on singles and goes from first to third only on hits to right field.

2010 Outlook
What The Retired or Inactive Players was thinking when they signed Calderon to a long contract, is beyond me: this guy flat-out sucks.
