He hits righthanders and lefthanders with equal consistency. He rarely pulls pitches, preferring to shoot line drives to right-center.

Baserunning & Defense
He usually does an excellent job of blocking balls in the dirt, though he can occasionally get lazy late in a season. His arm is accurate enough. Encarnacion is an intelligent baserunner with average speed, but he's not a basestealing threat.
