Kevin Foster
Starting Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching He is adept at coaxing groundballs with his sinking fastball and plunging curveball, so hitters try to force him to elevate his deliveries and hope that they'll catch too much of the strike zone. His changeup isn't bad... he fools his share of hitters. Foster can get into trouble with walks, and there's concern about him being able to maintain his stuff over the whole season. He can hit 90 MPH but is too smart to try to get his fastball past most hitters. He's almost as effective against lefthanders as he is versus righthanders.
Defense & Hitting Though he lacks a good pickoff move, he checks the running game with a compact stretch delivery. Foster is nothing special in the field. Foster is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Foster has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Foster as a pinch-runner on occasion.
