Chris Gladu
First Baseman | Free Agents

Hitting
Gladu never has been a patient hitter. But Chris's detracters are quick to call attention to his ongoing struggles at the plate with men on base. Let's face facts: Gladu hits a lot of ground balls... and in my book, if you're slow of foot and put the ball on the ground, you're bound to get tied up in the double play. He hits righthanders and lefthanders with equal consistency. Chris Gladu has made a career of putting the ball to the opposite field. That's rare in this day and age. It's hard to explain but Chris Gladu plays much better on the road then he does at home. It's unfortunate too, with Gladu signing a hefty contract. You gotta imagine management wants a little better relationship between him and the fans.

Baserunning & Defense
When you play Gladu you're not putting him in for his glove. His arm is accurate enough. He generally takes one base at a time, though he'll take advantage if an outfielder gets lackadaisical.

2010 Outlook
What The Free Agents was thinking when they signed Gladu to a long contract, is beyond me: this guy flat-out sucks.
