Gulan never has been a patient hitter. Gulan always has been a line-drive hitter who uses the entire field. He hits righthanders and lefthanders with equal consistency.

Baserunning & Defense
He rarely makes a highlight play and struggles with balls to his right. Gulan doesn't have great speed, though he reads righthanders' moves well enough to steal a couple bases each season without getting caught very often.

2010 Outlook
If Gulan doesn't perform, the Retired or Inactive Players won't hesitate to send him down to the minors.
