Uel Hunter
Starting Pitcher | Minnesota Horde
Pitching He is adept at coaxing groundballs with his sinking fastball and plunging curveball, so hitters try to force him to elevate his deliveries and hope that they'll catch too much of the strike zone. Hunter throws a nice sinker... The rookies never seem to know when it's coming. Hunter can get into trouble with walks, and there's concern about him being able to maintain his stuff over the whole season. His fastball gets into the high 80s, but it's the sink that makes the pitch effective. He has an above-average changeup and the ability to throw from a variety of arm angles. Steals sometimes unnerve Hunter, who isn't blessed with extraordinary self-confidence. His stuff becomes less sharp as he gets into the late innings. When you throw a curveball, it better break. Hanging curves equal earned runs in this league, you just can't get away with them. Unfortunately, Hunter's curveball tends to hang. He attacks lefties and righties the same way.
Defense & Hitting He isn't especially quick off the mound but generally fields his position adequately. He never has controlled the running game. Hunter is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Hunter has some pop in his swing.
