William Hunter
Relief Pitcher | Free Agents
Pitching If you're going in to face Hunter, better be wearing plenty of protection. He's wild. You know, some times I think I can throw harder than Hunter, and that's saying a lot. He's trying to develop a sinker, but as of yet it's been well below par. In his first taste of the majors, he has kept lefthanders in check but wasn't as effective against righties. It's hard to explain but William Hunter plays much better on the road then he does at home. It's unfortunate too, with Hunter signing a hefty contract. You gotta imagine management wants a little better relationship between him and the fans.
Defense & Hitting He isn't especially quick off the mound but generally fields his position adequately. He doesn't have much of a pickoff move and he's slow getting the ball to home plate out of the set position. Hunter is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Hunter has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Free Agents have been known to use Hunter as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2010 Outlook What The Free Agents was thinking when they signed Hunter to a long contract, is beyond me: this guy flat-out sucks. But if you ask me, I'll pass on Hunter.
