Al Jolson
Third Baseman | Texas Rangers

Hitting
In past seasons, Jolson has been a bit of a liability with men on base. Jolson was a line-drive hitter when he first came up, but over the last few years has become more of a true home-run hitter, lofting more high flyballs. He hits righthanders and lefthanders with equal consistency. His strength is in the gaps.

Baserunning & Defense
He rarely makes a highlight play and struggles with balls to his right. Jolson doesn't have great speed, though he reads righthanders' moves well enough to steal a handful of bases each season without getting caught very often.

2010 Outlook
The Texas Rangers were smart, they locked Jolson up to a long term contract. Jolson has impressed at the A-ball level. Look for the Texas Rangers to give him a shot in Double or Triple A before the year is up.
