Jose Lima
Starting Pitcher | Cincinnati Reds
Pitching Lima can get into trouble with walks, and there's concern about him being able to maintain his stuff over the whole season. Lima also has a decent changeup. Because he can't overpower hitters, Lima has to fool them instead. The one thing I must say I don't like about Lima is how easily rattled he gets. If he makes a mistake to a hitter and the guy winds up on second or third, you can pretty much count on the guy scoring. He attacks lefties and righties with similar success. He absolutely loves playing before the hometown crowd.
Defense & Hitting Lima is a reliable fielder who doesn't get rattled on defensive plays and is rarely out of fielding position. His slow delivery makes him fairly easy to steal upon, but Lima helps himself by holding runners with throws to first, and with slide steps and varied deliveries to home. Lima is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Lima has some pop in his swing.
