Pitching
McAlpin's control is among the best in the game. McAlpin also has a decent changeup. Because he can't overpower hitters, McAlpin has to fool them instead. McAlpin gives up his share of home runs, but is always around the plate and doesn't give up many walks. He attacks lefties and righties with similar success.

Defense & Hitting
His pickoff move is merely average. He isn't especially quick off the mound but generally fields his position adequately. McAlpin is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but McAlpin has some pop in his swing.
