Jim McClendon
Third Baseman | Free Agents
Hitting The book on McClendon is that you can knock the bat out of his hands with an average major league fastball. With his slap-hitting approach, McClendon always hits like he already has two strikes. The results are usually groundballs or line drives to the opposite field. He hits righthanders and lefthanders with equal consistency. You can expect Jim McClendon to hit the ball to the opposite field... that's just the kind of hitter he is.
Baserunning & Defense McClendon doesn't have great speed, though he reads righthanders' moves well enough to steal a handful of bases each season without getting caught very often. His glovework leaves a lot to be desired. His arm is accurate enough.
2010 Outlook What The Free Agents was thinking when they signed McClendon to a long contract, is beyond me: this guy flat-out sucks.
