Danny Miceli
Relief Pitcher | Cleveland Lions
Pitching Miceli has to keep the ball down, especially against lefties, or he gets hit hard and often. His fastball gets into the high 80s, but it's the sink that makes the pitch effective. The Cleveland Lions hope he can work on his control a little bit. Every once and a while one slips away from him and either ends up at the backstop or in the right field bleachers. Steals sometimes unnerve Miceli, who isn't blessed with extraordinary self-confidence. Sometimes I wish he'd just give up on throwing the changeup, it's like a BP ball! He comes right after righthanded hitters, who are lucky even to reach base against him, but he works more carefully to lefties.
Defense & Hitting Miceli is nothing special in the field. He doesn't hold runners very close, which gives his catcher a bit of a workout. Miceli is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Miceli has some pop in his swing.
