Nieves never has been a patient hitter. In past seasons, Nieves has been a bit of a liability with men on base. Nieves always has been a line-drive hitter who uses the entire field. He hits righthanders and lefthanders with equal consistency.

Baserunning & Defense
Though he managed to record his share of assists, his arm is just average. Nieves is an intelligent baserunner with average speed, but he's not a basestealing threat.
