Jake Peavy
Starting Pitcher | Pittsburgh Pirates

Pitching
Though Peavy can't just blow the ball by hitters, he has some giddyup on his fastball. He struggles with his command at times and is still learning to mix his pitches and set up hitters. Peavy also has a decent changeup. Peavy also throws a screwball. Because he can't overpower hitters, Peavy has to fool them instead. His stuff becomes less sharp as he gets into the late innings. He traditionally fares better against lefties.

Defense & Hitting
Peavy is a reliable fielder who doesn't get rattled on defensive plays and is rarely out of fielding position. His windup, though, makes him an easy target to run on. Peavy is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Peavy has some pop in his swing.
