Carlos Perez
Starting Pitcher | Cincinnati Reds
Pitching It's tough to get much loft on the ball against him, as he works down in the strike zone to begin with and his two-seamer produces mostly groundballs. He's a good late inning man, which is when being a pitcher really counts. Perez can get into trouble with walks, and there's concern about him being able to maintain his stuff over the whole season. He has an above-average changeup and the ability to throw from a variety of arm angles. He changes speeds well enough to keep righthanders from teeing off on him.
Defense & Hitting He never has controlled the running game. Perez is agile on the mound, though he makes needless errors when his concentration wanders. Perez is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Perez has some pop in his swing.
